Location
Few hotels in Europe possess the same presence as Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin. Perfectly positioned beside the Brandenburg Gate, it commands the most prestigious address in the city. From here, the grand boulevards of Unter den Linden and Pariser Platz stretch out in every direction, with museums, theatres, and landmarks just moments away. Yet the instant you step inside, the rhythm of Berlin fades and you enter a world of calm refinement. The Adlon is more than a hotel – it is an icon of hospitality where the spirit of history meets contemporary elegance.
Accommodation
My suite overlooking the Brandenburg Gate was nothing short of magnificent. Expansive in layout, it featured a generous living room that felt more like a private apartment than a hotel suite. Two marble bathrooms offered every indulgence, from deep soaking tubs to walk-in showers, while thoughtful design touches ensured there was ample space for luggage to be neatly tucked away.

Each day, beautifully arranged treats arrived in the room – a chilled bottle of champagne one evening, a cheese platter or handmade chocolates the next. These thoughtful gestures, delivered with quiet precision, made the experience feel deeply personal.

The décor strikes a perfect balance between classic European craftsmanship and modern comfort: soft fabrics, gleaming wood, and warm lighting that invites you to unwind. From the window, the Brandenburg Gate stood framed like a living painting – a constant reminder that you are staying at one of the world’s truly great addresses.
For guests in the top suites, winter brings an added touch of indulgence. A private butler lights the real fireplace and serves champagne and strawberries by the glow of the flames – a tradition that epitomises Adlon’s timeless sense of luxury.

Spa & Wellness
The Adlon Spa by Resense is one of Europe’s most sophisticated urban retreats, spread across three serene levels. It feels both grand and intimate, with alabaster lighting, golden tones, and the soft scent of essential oils setting the mood. I tried their performance facial using the renowned 111SKIN range – a treatment that combines advanced technology with a deeply relaxing touch. The results were remarkable; my skin felt smoother, hydrated, and genuinely rejuvenated.
The adjoining pool and wellness area is a destination in itself, featuring a striking black-marble pool, whirlpool, Finnish sauna, soft sauna, and a steam room inspired by an Arabian hammam. The relaxation lounges, with fireplaces and daybeds, are ideal for unwinding after a day exploring the city. Guests can enjoy a refreshing juice or even the hotel’s signature Adlon currywurst adorned with edible gold – a playful nod to Berlin’s culinary spirit.

Dining
Breakfast at the Adlon is legendary – arguably one of the finest in Europe. It is a feast that celebrates abundance and quality in equal measure. Red caviar, smoked salmon, artisanal cheeses, warm pastries, seasonal fruits, and an extensive à-la-carte selection are served in an elegant room filled with morning light.

The service is polished yet relaxed, and the experience feels joyful rather than formal – a true highlight of every stay.
In the evening, the two-Michelin-star Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer offers an unforgettable fine-dining journey. Each dish is a composition of textures and flavours that reflect both French technique and modern creativity. With views of the Brandenburg Gate and an atmosphere of understated sophistication, it remains one of Berlin’s top gastronomic destinations.
For something more casual, Brasserie Quarré serves refined French and German classics on a terrace overlooking Pariser Platz – the most coveted seat in town for people-watching with a glass of champagne. On the last Sunday of each month, the restaurant hosts its celebrated Champagne Brunch, a lavish spread accompanied by live music and flowing Taittinger bubbles.
The Lux Traveller Loves
What defines Hotel Adlon Kempinski is its rare blend of grandeur and warmth. The service is discreet yet instinctive – the kind that anticipates your needs before you voice them. From the concierge who remembers your preferences to the housekeeping team who refreshes your suite with a touch of artistry, everything runs with seamless grace.

Despite its legendary past, the Adlon feels alive and contemporary. The iconic elephant fountain in the lobby, Murano chandeliers, and soft piano melodies create a sense of timeless theatre, while the atmosphere remains genuinely welcoming. It is easy to see why this address has hosted royalty, world leaders, and film stars for over a century.
For travellers seeking more than a luxurious stay, the Adlon offers an experience steeped in emotion and history. To wake up here, looking out over the Brandenburg Gate, is to feel part of Berlin’s living story – a place where tradition, beauty, and impeccable service come together in perfect harmony.
