A unique luxury resort on French Polynesia’s jaw dropping private island of Tetiaroa, The Brando is named in honour of the island’s famous former owner Marlon Brando.
The resort, designed to reflect traditional Polynesian lifestyle, is part of a stunning atoll composed of small islands surrounding a sparkling turquoise lagoon, 348 kilometres northeast of Tahiti.
More than just a luxury retreat, The Brando is a model of sustainable technology and protection of the atoll’s abundant marine life is key to the resort’s operations. There is even an on-site eco-station for scientific research that guests can visit.
The exclusive island can be accessed only by private plane and features 35 sunshine bathed villas, each with its own plunge pool and private white sand beach area, frequented by sea turtles.
The all-inclusive resort has two superb restaurants showcasing Polynesian and French cuisine, under the direction of Guy Martin of the Michelin two-star restaurant, Le Grand Véfour in Paris. An organic garden and orchard provides organically grown fruit and vegetables, and honey made by Tetiaroa Bees. Les Mutinés by Guy Martin offers fine dining and a world-class wine cellar, while the Beachcomber Café offers Polynesian-inspired dishes and classic French cuisine. There are excellent options for vegans with Kelvin Au-Ieong of the celebrated Invitation V, Vegan Bistro in Montreal, designing the menu.
Enjoy sunset cocktails at Te Manu Bar or relax at Bob’s Bar, a casual setting on the beach, that was a favourite of Brando himself.
Varua Te Ora Polynesian Spa is a haven of tranquility on a restful pond, offering holistic treatments inspired by international and ancestral Polynesian techniques. For a special treat, the Fare Manu spa suite nests like a cocoon high in the tree tops.
