EOS is named after the Greek Goddess of Dawn, Eos is an embodiment of hope and optimism, and ‘optimistic’ is exactly how I felt checking into the ultra glamorous new hotel in Adelaide.
EOS was unveiled just a few months ago and it is already the talk of the town. The 120-room boutique hotel is a part of Sky City’s new $330 million development. No expense was spared on the hotel and it is set to become a new landmark on Adelaide’s luxury scene.
The stunning mirrored-glass facade has added a touch of gold to Adelaide’s skyline, while exceptional rooms and suites have set a new standard in Australian hospitality.
Rooms & Suites
Hotel interiors were designed by the very talented, Adelaide based, Hecker Guthrie and Walter Brooke. This winning team used mostly local artists, producers and manufacturers to decorate the interiors. We love the suspended lights over the bed, velvet chairs, marble coffee tables, gilded glass minibar. Attention to detail in the design is overwhelming and deserves a high accolade.
EOS boasts the largest rooms in the city, ranging between 40-57 sq meters. While all rooms are beautiful, the suites deserve a special mention. We had the pleasure to stay in a Radiance River View Suite that felt like home away from home.
Nearly 200 sq meters of living space comprised of an entrance, dining and living room, powder room, large walk-in robe, marble bathroom with a free standing bath, and a spectacular oval bedroom with 180 degree views. The floor to ceiling windows with spectacular views over the river added that extra touch of glamour to the already spectacular suite.
Some of the little touches we loved in the suite – complimentary mini bar snacks, bottles of water thoughtfully arranged on the bedside and in the bathroom, selection of beautiful teas and coffees and a big choice of complimentary movies on the oversized televisions. These suites are absolutely perfect for a long stay, romantic getaway or family vacation.
The jewel of the hotel is The Grace Villa, located at the highest point of the hotel. This 305 sq meter sanctuary is designed to impress even the fussiest of travellers. The villa comes with bespoke butler service, two bedrooms, office, sauna and private gym. Services of an on-call mixologist or spa therapist are available on request. Host a dinner party, entertain with cocktails and canapés on your private terrace or enjoy some quiet time in style with your loved ones – the choice is yours and The Grace Villa team are here to adhere to your every desire!
Facilities
EOS boasts an outdoor swimming pool with Jacuzzi and relaxation area. Pretty pool deck is the perfect place to relax on a warm summer day.
While on a cold winter day I would suggest hitting the gym. The gym is excellent, with the latest Technogym equipment and lots of choices for weight and cardio training. The best part – there is a good chance you’ll have the whole gym to yourself just like I did.
EOS Spa
The spa is absolutely beautiful. From the moment you walk in, you get immersed in the scent of Australian plant, fruit and flower essences. The natural Australian beauty products by IKOU used at EOS Spa are designed to enhance relaxation and nourish the body.
The spa menu is so delicious that my first thought was ‘Please book me in for a week here’. Choose from radiance or hydration facials or hot stone or sports massage. For that extra little bit of indulgence, book yourself in for the two- or three-hour ritual that encompass the whole body, like a de-stress massage, followed by facial and scalp masque. Dreamy!
Dining
EOS takes dining seriously and has a few wonderful options for you to choose from.
SOL Bar & Restaurant is an inviting space, set on level 9 of the hotel, with 270-degree views of the city. I am not a local in Adelaide, but can assure you that this must be one of the best sunset terraces in town.
SOL Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is famous for plant based and degustation menus designed using only local ingredients. I love that every menu starts with a list of local farmers and producers from where Head Chef, Kane Pollard, sources his food.
Even breakfast is very elegant and unusual for an Australian hotel. A small cold buffet offers a selection of fresh and freeze-dried fruit served with yogurt or muesli (prepared and served for you by a chef), hot and cold smoked fish, cold cuts, pastries and home made butter. Freshly squeezed juices come to the table as soon as you arrive and the waiter takes your order for one of the three hot seasonal dishes on the menu. A beautiful setting with beautiful food – an excellent start to the day and a place we could’ve lingered on for hours.
Another restaurant run by the hotel is iTL Italian Kitchen. It has an excellent vibe and is full of locals on the weekend, always a great sign. We were here on a Saturday night, with not one table spare. The menu features handmade pizza made with 36-hours matured dough, fresh pasta, Italian cold cuts and cheeses and of course yummy Italian deserts. This restaurant is not to be missed in Adelaide, even if you are not staying at the hotel. It is perfect for a group of friends, festive occasions or a family dinner out.
The Lux Traveller Loved
We loved the ultra-luxurious suites and stylish furniture throughout the hotel. Floor to ceiling windows and 180-degree views.
Kids adored free movies and complimentary mini bar.
ITL is perfect for a yummy and fun family dinner.
The spa is a sanctuary for relaxation and the brand new gym is an absolute treat too.
Splitting hairs
While there is a lot of construction around the hotel it is very hard to find hotel’s driveway and reception when arriving by taxi. It is not well signed and we had to explain the way to all taxi drivers coming to pick us up.
All In All
EOS by SkyCity is an exceptional new luxury hotel in Adelaide, a must-visit for all visitors to South Australia. I’ll go as far as to say that this is one of the best hotels in Australia now and I am already looking forward to visiting it again soon!
