Palatial beauty overlooking the lagoon since the XIV century, enfolded in old school glamour, legends and history the Danieli stands the test of time very nicely thanks to its heritage, great location and excellent service.
Location and decor: Facing Santa Maria della Salute and San Giorgio Maggiore churches across the lagoon and steps away from St. Mark’s square, Doge’s Palace and Bridge of Sighs it doesn’t get more central than this.
The hotel comprises three linked palaces (the original Palazzo Dandono being the most wonderfully decadent in all venetian gothic and the more modern ones dating around 1800 and 1940).
Rooms: 210 rooms furnished in regal splendor with lavish fabrics, murano mirrors and chandeliers, plush and silky sofas.
The best ones are the ones facing the lagoon as well as the outstanding Doge Royal Suite and the three beyond charming Pierre-Yves Rochon designed suites dedicated to stars that were regulars at the hotel.
Service: Swift, charming and attentive from the front desk to the concierge, restaurant and porters service is a well oiled mechanism mantained by a staff that is working on site since decades and very well trained new members.
Ambience: Romantic in a very sophisticated “Old World” style. This Lux Traveller found the stunning ground floor lounge vibe quiet and appealing during the day and lively at night.
The sprawling structure of the hotel can be at times detrimental to coziness and interaction with fellow Lux Travellers but its a small price to pay for staying in such a palatial property.
Food: Terrazza Danieli is not only the restaurant with the most striking view in town but is also a gastronomic experience of excellence.
Under chef Dario Parascandolo’s guidance the most demanding foodie’s expectations will be not only satisfied but overcome. Dreamy wine list.
