VIP SERVICE
Stepping on to the plush grounds of Villa d’Este feels like entering a Renaissance painting: sweeping gardens, brocaded silk, and embellished furniture complemented by unassuming personal service.
A floating swimming pool, Internet access, and satellite TV – the Italy of the 16th century was never this lavish. But modern comforts and classical luxury are natural partners here at Villa d’Este. Maybe it’s due to plenty of practice, since this hotel has been welcoming guests to the shores of Lake Como since 1873.
The 152 sumptuous rooms are scattered through two historical buildings dating back to the villa’s days as the summer home of a 16th century Cardinal, and four private villas, The Mosaic House, Villa Malakoff, Villa Cima and Villa Garrovo, with a slightly more recent construction date in the 1800s. The rooms range from the 320 sq. ft. Double Classic to the 1080 sq. ft. Cardinal Suite, named for the hotel’s original owner, Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio.
Days at Villa d’Este are full of possibility. Swim in the floating pool, go windsurfing, sailing, water skiing, or match wits with one of the six 18-hole golf courses nearby. And someone has to make sure the spa’s Turkish bath gets some attention!
