Pan Pacific Melbourne

Pan Pacific group has big plans for expansion and they have recently acquired former Hilton hotel in Melbourne on South Wharf. Since take over the hotel has been meticulously refurbished and now offers its guests a luxurious waterfront getaway to its guests in the heart of Melbourne.

Location and Design

The location is perfect, on Yarra River, within 10 minutes picturesque walk to the very centre of town – Collins Street and all happening and trendy lanes with a multitude of excellent restaurants, bars and cafes. Crown complex is 5 minutes away a little further on the same esplanade.

It’s nice to be so close to action yet tucked away to have a beautiful outlook and peaceful location with no traffic or tram noise.

South Wharf used to be an area of Melbourne where ships arrived and Pan Pacific is designed with a nautical theme in mind. The lobby and the restaurant looks like you are on board of a beautiful vessel.

Accommodation

Pan Pacific offers a great mix of rooms and suites. Every floor has two gorgeous suites with panoramic views of the city or the river. Floor to ceiling views are spectacular and we recommend Panoramic Suite for an ultimately luxurious stay.

This suite has fantastic configuration – spacious living room, bedroom with a king size bed, beautiful bathroom with oversized showers, large bath, double vanities and a separate walk-in wardrobe.

Coffee machine, tea facilities and minibar are neatly tucked in the built-in wardrobe. Stylish furnishings with grey soft carpets, warm wood, marble tables create a homely atmosphere and ultra plush beds with crispy soft sheets are as soft as a cloud. I had excellent sleep here and every morning was a challenge to leave this sanctuary.

Dining

Restaurant Dock 37 serves beautiful breakfast with freshly squeezed juices, eggs to order, fruit, pastries, gluten free section and Asian dishes. If you prefer a light breakfast in an elegant setting, try the Club Lounge. It’s one of Australia’s best-designed Club lounges with a multitude of private booths, most with the views of the Yarra river. It is cozy and elegant, perfect for either a relaxing drink in the evening or a work meeting during the day. Lounge is equipped with Apple computers, printer and wifi for those who come to Melbourne for work.

Club Lounge serves very light breakfast and evening cocktails.

At dinner time, Deck 37 serves a fantastic selection of modern Australian dishes with Italian influence- try buffalo mozzarella or bresaola as an entrée or beautiful grilled fish and juicy steak as a main. We had a little degustation of the chefs’ best dishes and it was a very enjoyable evening.

Melbourne is famous for its dining scene, so you prefer to venture out, hotel concierge will be able to recommend some of the best restaurants in town.

Some of my favourites are Chin Chin, Coda, Tonka, Francois for fun casual dining or Rosetta and Rockpool for fancy fine dining.

Facilities

Pan Pacific has a well-equipped gym and in-room massages. I would suggest reserving those ahead of your stay as they are arranged by the third party and require some notice.

The Lux Traveller Loves

  • Modern yet homey design and layout of the suites
  • Panoramic floor to ceiling windows with stunning views
  • Excellent central waterfront location
  • Great Club lounge

Splitting Hairs

Would be nice to have a pool or a spa at the hotel but if you plan ahead a massage in the room could be arranged with ease.

All In All

Excellent new hotel on Melbourne’s luxury hotel scene. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Location is perfect. We will be back!
