Phulay Bay is a Ritz Carlton Reserve in Krabi, Thailand. For those who have already explored Phuket and are looking for something more exclusive and romantic this is a perfect option.
Krabi is either 4 hours by car from Phuket airport or 45 min from local Krabi airport. It is a spectacular area surrounded by limestone rock formations on land and in the sea.
Accommodation
The resort is designed in Moroccan style with minimalistic yet grand features. It doesn’t happen often, that when I walk into a space it takes my breath away. That happened when I stepped into my stunning Reserve Pool Villa with ocean view.
You first walk into a spacious bedroom with very high ceilings and breathtaking views towards the Andaman Sea. The centerpiece of the room is a huge bed, the biggest I’ve ever seen – 5 meters long by 3.5 meters wide. True honeymooners’ dream.
Bedrooms face onto a no less spectacular 20 meter shady terrace with comfortable day beds. A few steps away is your private pool sunken in a pretty pond, a perfect place to cool down on a hot summer day.
Another beautiful feature of the villa are tall, wooden doors, hand painted in bright colours in a traditional Thai style. They open to a spectacular bathroom with a free standing, huge stone bath in a shape of a flower. Don’t forget to ask your butler to prepare a romantic flower petal bath for you while you are out at dinner.
Walk in wardrobe, make up table, spacious shower room and stone carved his and hers vanities are just a few other luxurious features of these grand villas.
Behind the indoor bathroom there is a private courtyard, beautifully lit up with candles in the evenings with another sunken oversized bath for those who prefer to take to bathe outdoors.
Facilities
Phulay Bay is designed with romance in mind. It is a perfect resort for honeymooners and romantic couples.
The Spa offers nurturing couples packages in a suite open to the lush tropical gardens with a flower petal bath and a private relaxation area.
Resort pool is one of the most spectacular in Thailand with the direct view of the sea and limestone islands.
Gym runs a number of complimentary classes and activities every day – yoga, pilates, mediation, strength training, so if you prefer to stay active during your romantic break that’s totally achievable at Phulay Bay.
Beach in front of the hotel isn’t great for swimming – it is rocky and the tide goes out a long way on most days, however hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service to a nearby beach. Or another way to enjoy a swim is to hire a private Thai boat in the afternoon, around 4.30pm, and go to the nearby islands for snorkelling and watching the sunset. All the tourists would’ve left the islands by then and you can literally have an island all to yourself.
Dining
Phulay Bay offers a gorgeous breakfast on a shady outdoor terrace from 6-11am. Most guests tend to take their time enjoying the fruit and pastries from the buffet as well as a la carte hot dishes prepared individually for each guest.
For dinner there is Thai and Seafood restaurants, but the most spectacular option is Beyond Dining – private dinners set up by your butler either on the beach, on a private rooftop or, the most spectacular of them all, – Sala Srichan – in a private pavilion surrounded by water and thousands of candles lit up for the night just for you and your loved one. This experience is one of the most memorable dinners I ever had and highly recommend it to everyone who is in love.

For those who come to Thailand purely for the beach this resort might not be ideal as there is no direct access to a beautiful sandy beach.
All In All
Phulay Bay Ritz Carlton Reserve is an incredibly romantic pool villa resort, perfect for honeymooners and romantic couples. The villas are so good that despite excellent resort facilities you might be spending a lot of time indoors.
