W Doha – Fine dining hub in town

W Doha has been well known in the Middle East as it is one of the first luxury hotels in town. W tower is divided into a hotel and residential floors and it has been a home to many expats and business travellers to Doha over the years. After a brief visit to the hotel I can see why – central location, fancy suites and exquisite restaurants set the scene for a great stay in Doha.

Accommodation

I stayed in a one-bedroom WOW Suite, a stunning designer haven featuring a spacious living room with a large study desk, leather sofa and fancy cocoon seat suspended from the ceiling in front of the floor to ceiling windows.

The bedroom design is also unique with a sheer curtain separating the bed area from the rest of the space creating intimacy and enhancing the focus on the city views from the large windows. Double bathroom has plenty of space for two with a spacious rain shower, separate bath and double vanities. The interiors are very modern and will appeal to the young, design-conscious generation.

Dining

Dining scene is what sets W apart from the rest. No other hotel in Doha can boast such a  selection at this point. Many guests come to the W for a staycation just to relax and enjoy beautiful food on their getaway.

Spice Market offers a Japanese – Asian fusion with many favourites like Dim Sums, Robata, Pekin Duck, Miso Black Cod to mention just a few.

The design of the restaurant is stunning too – dimmed lights and red chandeliers bring you back to the mystery of Asian continent.

La Spiga by PaperMoon – traditional Italian restaurant serving truffle pasta in a giant Parmesan ball and yummy dishes like.

Latin American Coya has great party atmosphere and Peruvian food and innovative pisco infusions. And Market by Jean-Georges will introduce you to international cuisine with Arabian flavours.

Even little W Café services excellent pastries with fresh juices or custom-made tea and coffee.

Facilities

W has an outdoor pool, well-equipped gym and Sisley spa. The spa was a highlight of my stay – I had a Sisley Paris facial and left me glowing and very relaxed.

Doha gets very hot in the summer and escaping to a beautiful spa for an afternoon is a lovely treat.

The Lux Traveller Loved

Stylish interior the WOW Suite.

Exceptional dining experiences.

Central location in the main business district and close to a shopping mall.

Splitting Hairs

Room interiors have a lot of carpets and soft furnishings and it holds smoke smell from previous guests. If you are a non-smoker like me or allergic to smoke you have to make it very clear that your room has to be completely smoke free. Most people still smoke in the Middle East and it could be an issue for other nationalities.

All In All

Trendy hotel in a good city location. Will be amazing once all the construction around is completed. W restaurants are a ‘must-visit’ even if you are not staying in the hotel!
